The day dawned dark and rainy, with thunder echoing in the distance. As we needed to fuel Monarch, and don’t need any water in with the fuel (!), we waited for the weather to break. It did so about noon, we fueled up and were off again.
About 20 miles north, we passed through St. Augustine, with its distinctive striped lighthouse.
Here, the famous and picturesque Bridge of Lions is under major restoration.
A temporary bridge has been constructed to handle traffic during the process, and we were able to pass under this bridge without it opening.
The St. Augustine waterfront is an attractive and historic picture.
as is the Fort.
We anchored at Pine Island, and witnessed a beautiful Florida sunset.
