October 16, 2007 - Chesapeake City, MD

We transited the Cape May Canal this morning and turned right at its end. Heading back North!!!! We were on the Delaware Bay and were heading north so that we could reach the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal (C&D Canal). This is the quickest and safest way to get to the Chesapeake Bay. However, it did seem strange to be heading back north when we REALLY want to be going south.
We had beautiful weather - light winds and warm temps for our trip. It was in the 70s and we were in shorts and t-shirts.

There were many interesting lighthouses dotting the bay. This is the Ship Jack Shoal light.

At the north end of the Delaware Bay, we made a left turn on to the C&D Canal. Back to easy navigation - just keep it between the banks and you are good. This is a big, wide and deep canal. The write-ups say it is used by many naval vessels but we did not see any.

This evening finds Monarch at anchor in Chesapeake City, MD. We are in a nice anchorage with a few other boats. There is also a fairly large marina/restaurant in the basin. There is no wind this evening and it promises to be a beautiful night. We BBQ'd some salmon we picked up last night at a fish market and it was fabulous.
