July 3, 2009, Hilton Beach, St Joseph Island, Ontario, Canada

Today dawned partly cloudy, and we were underway early to avoid the predicted afternoon winds. Our night’s harbor was Hilton Beach on St. Joseph Island.

St. Joseph Island is in Ontario, and not far from the St. Mary’s River. The town of Hilton Beach (no relation to the hotel Hiltons) is tiny with a beautiful newer harbor. We were glad to be safely in, as the winds did increase in strength.

So much in strength that the wind pushed against Monarch, at the head of a T-dock, and pulled the dock into a curve.

We walked the small town, and the boardwalk to the public beach. As the winds died down, we had a good night’s sleep here at the dock.
