August 15-16, 2009 - Cove Island, Ontario

Prior to returning to our dock in Tobermory, we stopped for two nights on Cove Island, at South Cove Harbor, just a couple miles from the cottage. There, we dinghied to the cottage and started the refrigerator, so we could stow perishables when we “officially” arrive.

On Cove Island, we also toured McCrea’s Harbor, also known as Boat Passage, and were treated to the sight of the golden eagle which lives in the vicinity.
At day’s end, we enjoyed our last sunset of this fine trip. Note the storm cloud looming near the sun. Indeed, a soft rain rinsed the decks while we slept. Tomorrow it’s into Tobermory, and this leg of our voyage is ended.

We traveled 1198 nautical miles on the Superior leg of our voyage, which is about 1440 statute miles.

By the way, the 2008-2009 cribbage season also ended with this voyage. The tally:
225 games played; Jerry won 110, Marty won 115.

STAY TUNED for more adventures of Marty and Jerry on Monarch. We will cast off for Lake Michigan mid-September, on our way down the center of the US. So visit our blog then!
