September 17, 2009 - Cheboygan, Michigan

As the Presbyterian Church pealed 8:00 am, and followed with hymn “The Church’s One Foundation,” we departed DeTour Village.
We even beat the ferry bringing school busses from Drummond Island to bring students to school on the mainland.
The Detour Reef Light showed us the way to deep water in Lake Huron. We were glad to have waited for calmer seas, as today the waves are 2 foot or less.
Today’s trip is only 35 miles, and we approached the Lower Peninsula side at Poe Reef Light.
Fourteen Foot Shoal Light marks the approach to Cheboygan, our port for the night.
The new Coast Guard cutter Mackinac berths in the harbor. It replaced the old one, which is now a museum in Mackinac City.
The bridge tender opened the small bridge on our request. The cutter Mackinac is visible behind the bridge.
The City Docks are in the heart of downtown. We did our walkabout to check out Cheboygan.
