May 2, 2009 - St. Michaels, MD

While staying at Mills Marina, we were invited for dinner at the beautiful home of Marty’s cousin Chuck and his wife Cynthya, in Williamsburg. The next morning, Marty was on a plane bound for Houghton and the Michigan Tech Board of Control Meeting. While she was gone, John Nyland, Jerry’s roommate from college, had volunteered to help Jerry move the boat north.

The first day was overcast as Jerry and John set out from the marina and headed for Mill Creek. The wind was from the southwest and put 3-4 foot seas on the stern quarter. John quickly grasped the use of the autopilot as we dodged numerous crab pots for most of the trip.

We got in early and anchored before the afternoon rains hit. When they came and went, we were treated to beautiful rainbows. We were the only boat in the anchorage that evening.

We were up early the next morning and had a nice trip into John’s hometown of St. Michaels, Maryland. It was a great opportunity for the two boys to catch up on all that had been happening and compare notes on retirement (they both have retired in the last 18 months!)
