April 30 - May 1, 2012 - On the Way to Washington, DC
After Norfolk, we were eager to make our next port, Washington, D.C. So we did a couple long days, stopping the first night in Mills Creek.
Then up to the mouth of the Potomac River, where we turned north at Smith Point Light.
St. Clements Island is prominently marked with a white cross.
Isn’t this a nice bridge? Yes, it is the Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge, the only one that spans the Potomac before the Washington, D.C. area.
Tonight we stop at Matawoman Creek, where we catch a beautiful sunset, but no going ashore, as it’s restricted government property.
