May 12. 2012 - Rock Hall, MD
At the crack of dawn, Annapolis was even busier, with a triathlon starting before the sun came up, right on the dock.
Hundreds of athletes biked, ran and swam just off our bow. Due to swimming part of the event, the river was closed for most of the morning.
We departed late, and got away complete with band fanfare.
We passed under the Chesapeake Channel Bridges that connect the mainland to Kent Island.
And near Sandy Point Light, we turned east toward a favorite harbor, Rock Hall.
Here’s one of those ski-boat sailboats, a McGregor. They are a unique breed of planing sailboats.
Rock Hall Harbor is a quiet contrast to Annapolis’ frenetic pace. The town dock has complimentary mooring.
The local fishermen have prime dockage.
And the local hero is, appropriately, the Oysterman.
We entertained our friends, John and Carol Nyland, who joined us for the evening from their home in nearby St. Michaels.
