April 7, 2012 - Jacksonville, Fl

We wanted to cover some ground today, and so were up before the sun. As we motored past Turkey Island, we witnessed a breathtaking sunrise.
It seems the trains only run when Monarch is looking to transit, so we waited at Buffalo Bluff while this Amtrak passenger train passed, most likely headed south to Orlando.
We arrived at the Florida Yacht Club, the oldest yacht club in the state, founded in 1876. This will be our last Florida Council of Yacht Clubs visit, until November, when we expect to reach the panhandle of the state.
We knew where to dock, as the Fleet Captain had posted our reservation prominently on a piling – quite a nice touch.
We saw a strange sight on the lawn, adults in funny hats rummaging around in the bushes. We had happened upon the Club’s annual Mad Hatter Day, where members vie for the wildest Easter hats while searching the grounds, not for hardboiled eggs, but……
………for hidden mini-bottles of adult libations. It was a sight to see.
The Club is beautiful, with nautical details.
We dined inside, and then retired early, to be up for the sunrise Easter church service.
