March 29, 2012 - New Smyrna, Florida
Today’s voyage took us past Cape Canaveral, the Space Center and through the Haulover Canal. The Native Americans named the latter, as it was the place where they portaged their canoes.
Approaching the town of New Smyrna, we saw that the town was preparing to celebrate Monarch’s arrival.
We had been fortunate to get a slip at one of the few New Smyrna Intracoastal docks, and even luckier to arrive at slack tide, as it’s a tricky docking spot with swift currents at mid-tide. After a couple members helped us tie up, we adjourned to the Club for the heralded “Taco Night” – just $1.25 each.
